WINGS celebrates and supports extraordinary women explorers and promotes scientific exploration, education and conservation to inspire future generations.
Art of Exploration
Humans have an innate need to create, explore and communicate that begins in childhood. The Art of Exploration uses the motivating examples of explorers and artists to ignite that questing spirit in young people and to model the ways in which they can reach beyond the ordinary to experience the extraordinary. The Art of Exploration, developed with Imagination Celebration of Fort Worth, Texas and implemented in the Fort Worth Public School system and in Monterrey, Mexico, reaches over 2,500 school children each year. The program includes teacher training and supplementary curriculum materials, guest presenters including explorers, scientists and artists, interactive workshops, exhibits, and performances. The multi-disciplinary program integrates the arts, sciences and humanities and connects the classroom to local art and cultural institutions.
Imagine Notes are produced on each explorer/artist participating in the program, giving a brief bio, background on work and research and other fun facts and resources.
