Biography
Born in 1914, Ursula Graham Bower traveled to India in the 1930s and 1940s, part of the time as a photographer for the Royal Geographical Society. She became close to the Indian people, particularly in the Naga hills in the Assam region, and by World War II was considered to be one of the foremost experts on the Naga culture. During the war she ran a refugee camp in the area. From 1948 to 1954 she lived in Kenya, and at the end of her life she lived on the Isle of Mull in Scotland. She also wrote two books about her travel experiences, Naga Path (1950) and The Hidden Land (1953). Graham Bower died in 1988.
